Welcome from Olde England ;-)

The "W Richards" is most likeley the Liverpool gunmaker who had a good business supplying ships and also the African Trade. The barrel walls would have been thin to start with and "19mm" might suggest about .75" If it WAS sold in England there should be a Proof Gauge mark at the breech --- can you see any markings?

2nd Howdy from Texas ! If you can post a few more photos, of the lock, trigger, and muzzle it will be useful for more answers and ideas. As for the story of it being left behind or at you Grand dad's gas station ! thats interesting in itself ! 😲
