Thauglor, I see you are from the great state of Arizona. Many of our best members come from your part of the country. You are in good company!

I also see that you want to do some research prior to purchasing a specific muzzleloader. You also specified what kind of shooting you like to do as well.

I think you are a person who is looking for a specific muzzleloader that would meet all your requirements and wants to take the time and effort to get that perfect rifle that will meet all your needs. Bravo my friend! You have come to the right place!

We are glad that you have decided to join us. This forum is the best by far, when it comes to Traditional Muzzleloaders and BP shooting. We also cover all the other aspects that go along with it.

No matter what you may have or want, it has more than likely been already covered in great detail right here on this forum. In your case it is a great place to do some research and ask alot of questions that will be a great help in deciding what muzzleloader you may want.

We are a friendly forum which is made up of like minded folks as yourself. The majority of our member's have decades of knowledge and experience under their belts. They would be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have. We would also like to hear about any concerns or comments that you may have as well!

Welcome to the forum. If you haven't discovered already, I think you will soon find a few things to be true:

Most factory muzzleloaders you find in the stores are made for hunting rather than for traditional appeal. In Arizona, the hunting laws lean toward the hybrid guns we don't discuss on this forum, inline, bolt action, scope sighted and such; so that makes it a little harder to find the traditional guns, new on the shelf, to examine up close.

Once you purchase a muzzle loader, you will discover you spend a lot less on ammo, so you shouldn't feel bad about stepping up on the original purchase to a more expensive one, compared to cartridge guns. It may cost you less to own, in the long run.

Muzzle loaders are capable of amazing accuracy, but it does take more effort on your part than a cartridge gun that is often amazingly accurate off the shelf with off the shelf cartridges. Attaining that accuracy is part of the challenge that makes it a rewarding hobby.

Good luck with it. You came to the right place. I would recommend you read through a lot of the posts here to find answers to common questions, then start asking your own specific questions. People here love to share their knowledge.
