Hi everybody! I hunt and shoot quite a lot, and lately I have picked interest in good ole' muzzleloaders: the idea to be fully independent from any external ammo supply is appealing, especially in our nick of the woods, where the only stuff that you can reliably find at all times is 7.62x39... Not to mention that a classic flintlock looks darn cool any day of the week 😎

I've always liked hunting as close as possible: the fun is in the hunt and the stalk, not in mile-long shots, so a shorter-range rifle has no drawbacks as far as I'm concerned. I look forward to good info and advice here!

I agree. Good and really close hunting is to find and remove scammers or spammers. Learn how to spot them and what to do about them and how to report them. Look for people selling something at a cheap price. Unbelievable so don't believe it. Check a person's record on the Forum. How long they've here, who they've do e business with and how did that go. When in doubt, check them out. Good hunting 👍 and WELCOME from this man in Michigan, Steve

Howdy from North Texas and welcome to the forum.
How far are you from Grahamstown ?

Welcome! What do you hunt ?
All sorts of game, from dikdik to eland and anything in between, then a few birds and rabbits... But that's mostly easy stuff, the real hunt where I live is Cape buffalo. Can't get tired of that one, I just love it!

Though going after a dagga boy with a single shot would probably not be the smartest move... 😁

Grahamstown in SA? 5-6 days away, 3,000 miles and 3-4 countries...

Well that puts you in Uganda or Kenya ,Barundi, Ruanda or maybe Northern Tanzania .Or lost as the case may be
Rudyards guess

How is the BP supply? I was lucky enough to hunt SA a couple years ago, and loved it. We would love to get back there (we also were hunting in the Grahamstown area) but it is unlikely. Certainly I can see quite a bit of plains game as being doable with a ML, but boy are your critters tough.
How about bird hunting?
