Hide Scraper

Hello,
Couldn't decide if this should go here or in "Craftsmen" so here we go anyway. Has anyone used or does anyone think that something like a Hyde Manufacturing #45600 9 1/2" pry bar scraper could be used as a hide scraper. It looks to be about the right size and shape. Just round off the corners a little and fashion a comfortable handle. What do you think?

Ought to work fine for this exhausting chore. Of course one traditional scraper is made from a length of musket (or shotgun) barrel beaten closed, bent to 90-95 degrees and filed to the proper sharpness.
