This is progress so far. The ramrod is Gaboon ebony, and the thimbles are custom.
The inlays for the barell pin are brass lozenge shape (Dixie Gun Works). I made tiny copper nails for the inlay, so after final polish, 2 copper "dots" will be exposed.
The lock mortise is about 90% done.
The trigger location is marked, as per my blueprint. I am very particular about the mechanical aspect and try to optimize all component locations.
I installed the drum in the most efficient (for fast ignition) place before the lock was placed on the stock. I substituted the lock bolts with long rods, and progressively "lowered" the stripped lockplate down. I then assembled it to complete the inlet, but only after the lockplate sat flat and snug.
This technique allows me to concentrate on parallelism and strength without all the internals messing up the attack.

This is with the plate intalled. A tight fit that took 5 hours at least. Everything is way oversize and the sides are square to allow easy clamping and drilling.
It may look blocky now, but after final shaping it will be a very small pistol.

Erzulis Nice, too bad you live so far a way, we could become good friends.I am curious is it going to get a nose cap? Dilly

No, this pistol will have just the wood. I arched it so it wouldn't just have a bunch of endgrain. Hopefully it will turn out fine.

Erzulis I sure it will, Just looked a little naked. Thanks Dlly
