Hmmm. what to do.

This is one of my bargain finds, she's a Jukar Spain .45 cal. When I found her the patchbox was all wallowed out and had chunks gouged out that wouldn't work so the "poxy" I made worked well enough. She hits the mark like a champ, 25 yrd and 50 yrd, good enough for dinner. I know most of ya's are looking for pics of the $1,000 and up firearms but this is rural country, central Mo, hillbilly posting this time. Yeah, she's dirty, lost a forearm pin today but had a couple hours playing with her and a few of the others for a few hours. I'll get to her later tonight, however...

The nub on this trigger guard by my pinkie finger annoys me to no end. I want to ground it off and polish it as the rest.
Now, here comes the cussing and such that a firearm shouldn't be disfigured as such and there is no need to do it. Is there a reason for it? Is it for a youngen or for a small hand maybe a female? Does it really matter? I'm really asking for others opinion. I know it's not a Colt original and I already had to mess with the patchbox but I would like some feedback please.

So leave it be or do it my way?

Whack it off, is my vote. had one just like that Years ago and that is what I did. No one noticed and no one cared.....

If it was mine and bothered me, I would cut it off too. It isn’t like you are disfiguring a pristine original. I like that you are shooting it and making it your own.

I don't have a problem with your modification. I might be a slicked up city dweller, but I do share some of your rural sensibilities to make that rifle truly your own.

Oh no man,you need to make it BIGGER, solder a chunk of brass on it the size of a Caddy. But really, cutting it off would make the wrist area look cleaner,can't see why not to remove it.

Appears someone already gave the barrel a haircut. The patchbox looks like it came off a TC. Definitely not PC or HC for a 1980 or so Jukar..... Have at it and make it yours. The barrel is capable of shooting very well if it has been taken care of.

I have never seen one like that. Buck it off and polish it up. Nobody will ever know its missing.

I actually like those pinky finger hooks. Helps to pull the gun into the shoulder. But that is me. Whatever you like is the way to go, again, make it your own.

On that note SDS, how long do ya think the barrel was originally? Also do ya mind telling me what the original "model" was supposed to be? I've only got the name, Spain, b/p and a serial #.

Yours looks to be a CVA Kentucky caplock made in Jukar Spain. From the muzzle to the end of the breech plug is 33-1/2”, probably call it a 32-3/4” bore or so, at least on one I just grabed from the safe. 1980 production with 189### serial number. Never fired the one in this photo.

Wow, 25-1/4" here, stubby! At 201### sn I figure we are in the same ball park around early "80s" I think I'm gonna tear it all down and try to get away from the red tint. *and the nub*
