Well, now that I finally seem to have a prb load that works in my Seneca I've been itching to try it. Just so happens I'm on holidays for a week before starting a parttime butchers apprenticeship after leaving my previous job of 26 years,so Jessica and I have scooted back down the south-east of South Australia for another poke around.
Tonight we're camping at a mates farm, where there's the odd rabbit lurking around the sheds and in the wood piles. I went out around 5pm for a look around, and missed one at about 20m shooting offhand in 50/60km winds.
Had a few shots at things before tea, worked out that its just me,so once I finished off some sausages and some lovely stewed foraged blackberries and apples,I had another poke around one of the wood piles. Slipping in quietly with the wind blowing off my left shoulder and looking into the setting sun,I didn't see the rabbit sitting way out away from the wood pile till it bolted. Luckily it sat in the shadows of the dead pines and allowed me to get a rest against a gum tree, albeit with its head behind a fence post. I set the trigger, drew a bead on its body as far forward as I could, and touched the shot off. When the smoke cleared, viola, dead bunny ! Unfortunately a hit to the body from a 65gn prb at 2000+fps is a tad devastating, in fact,I've seen less damage from my 50 cal. Still,it was a good shot from 31m,especially after all the hassle I've had with it.
