I picked up a Crocket pistol a few years back and recently decided to make a holster for it. It doesn't come with a ramrod or have a channel for one so the first step was making one for it.

I went back and forth with ideas about how to carry the ramrod. I thought about just packing it in my shot bag but since part of it would stick out I figured it would be lost easily. I also thought about adding a pocket on the outside of the holster to hold it. I finally decided to make the holster slightly wider than needed to allow the ramrod to go in it below the pistol.

Wet molded the ramrod stays in securely and the pistol handle blocks it from sliding out. I still added a thong/pocket to ensure that it stays in place when the guns out of the holster. The holster is designed to be worn cross-draw. I'm sure this isn't HC but I was only concerned with function.

How do you guys carry the ramrod for pistols without a channel?

Cant help ya on the without a channel part being that my 2 flint pistols have ramrod channels but I just wanted to tell you that you done a good looking job on your holster :hatsoff:

That's a nice-looking holster. As to how people carried ramrods, I believe the Ottoman horsemen secured their ramrods on a thong around their necks.

Thanks guys!
