I just got in a few leather holsters for my 1860 Army. Question is how to I treat /condition it?
You will need to give more info than that. Likely, you will need to do nothing but use them.I just got in a few leather holsters for my 1860 Army. Question is how to I treat /condition it?
That conditioner that has the duck on the label; Pecard! Fancy-pants antique-type guys use it as it's acid free, won't rot leather like petroleum-based shoe gunk. All-round good stuff for leather. What I mean is a conditioner like Neatsfoot or mink oil etc.
Pecard is all I use on leather now. Except for shoe polish. That conditioner that has the duck on the label; Pecard! Fancy-pants antique-type guys use it as it's acid free, won't rot leather like petroleum-based shoe gunk. All-round good stuff for leather.
Yes, neatsfoot is not for antique or fine leather; use for shoes only. Will eventually soften and rot the leather; This is what I use for all things leather.

Everyone has their own favorite I suppose but when a guy says he made a 1,000 holsters last year and recommends something, well, I will have to try it! Yer cost'n me money pard!
