Got the Dickert finished up and where I wanted it to be.
Put the finishing touches on deer hunting load development today trying a thicker Oxyoke patch.
Zeroed at 50yds, 2.0" to 2.5" groups from a seated hunting position with the following:
90grns Goex 3F
Oxyoke .022" precut/prelubed patches
Hornady .490" balls
Tight PRB combo, patches were so perfect they could be reused, and excellent accuracy.

Now if Mother Nature will just bring me another good acorn crop...:hmm:

Sounds like you got the right load figured out. An that is a fine looking flinter Roundball. our acorn crop is looking good here so far. Good luck as fall will be here quicker than we think

Thay should be a dandy buck-getter. Hope you make a little patch of "dark and bloody ground" near your hunting spot. :hatsoff:

I've been seeing plenty of does in my pre-season poking around but haven't come across the deaf, half-blind buck with a cold I'm hoping for. We had very little acorn activity last fall, and I see my neighbor has marked an ancient oak grove for felling. One of my favorite spots is on an approach to that section. May have to be "flexible" this fall.

Got the groups nudged over an inch to the left this morning...NOW its ready for deer season.

Next trip I'm going to find a reduced powder charge that will give me an accurate zero at 25yds so I can just practice shooting tiny targets at 25yds like rows of 1" dots or empty .12ga hulls...get the set trigger fine tuned the way I want it, etc.

Lordy, that's like finding your Supermodel girlfriend likes to cook!

It is one more accurate barrel, that's for sure...I bought it used and the original 7/8" x 42" .45cal barrel was so nose heavy it almost hit the floor everything time I picked it up...and after a couple range trips I knew it was just too heavy to even think about still hunting with.

So I sent the barrel to Ed Rayl to have it bored out to a .50cal with round bottom groove rifling and the larger bore lightened it just right, while still keeping enough weight so there's no muzzle wander...very accurate barrel.
