If I ever do another horn I'll try it your way. I made the horn I use in 1978 and it's only a little flakey...hasn't damaged the scrim yet.

At the time there wasn't a lot of info on howto at the local library..so I did until it worked.

Same with the gun I built from a truck axleshaft. It had a half inch hole in it and I thought, "bet I can make that shoot."..and it did.
