Well, if I ever buy another .32, I now know where to get .310 buckshot. My previous .32 cal. Pedersoli must have had an oversize bore for me to be able to load .320 single ought buck with a .010 patch. But, I did.
 
You are spot on. Size of Buck shot really depends on who made it. While it is supposed to be standardised there is easily .02-.05 difference on shot marked as 00 or 000, depending on manufacturer and even from batch to batch with the same manufacturer. (Never measured any 40 but expect it would show the same variations).
 
Actually, the diameter of 000, 00 & 0 buckshot varies quite a bit by maker (though within the same company it is very consistent in diameter) , so you may well have been using 0 buck.

That's why I told everyone on another thread to MEASURE several brands before you buy an 8-pound bag. - An 8-pound bag will keep you shooting small game for a LONG time, so measuring carefully is worth your time.
(It's also a good plan to test for "softness" by doing the fingernail test".)
