I've taken a couple deer and hogs with them. I've used the 385 grain over 90 grains of FFG and were pretty accurate out of my TC New Englander. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I also picked up a box of Hornady Pennsylvania conical but have not put any practice into them yet.

I’ve also used the 385gr and found them quite accurate with recoil as expected with shooting that much lead. Didn’t bother me however with 100gr 2fg in my old TC Hawken .50. Never hunted with it but did the water jug penetration test. Very impressed with hitting power but was surprised by the fact it blew into pieces.

I used the Hornady 385gr and 425gr over 100gr of 2F in my Renegade for probably my first ten years of muzzle loader hunting. They performed tops on every deer I've taken with them. I have four boxes of the 385gr in my muzzle loading bag as we speak.

Worth noting though: just yesterday I tried TC 320gr Maxi-Ball for the first time although in the Hawken I just picked up last spring. Shot the best 50yd group I've ever done with a smokepole. I'll probably see if the Renegade likes them as much as the Hawken on the next outing.
