Step 1. Remove the hornets...
Step 2. shove it down the barrel on top of powder charge.
Step 3. put ball or shot down barrel
Step 4. add more hornets nest (make sure there are no hornets in it)
Step 5. fire at target....
Step 6. Laugh... :haha:

I leave my hunting rifles loaded till fired sometimes 2 or 3 months. I just crumble Wasp nest or Hornet nest on top the powder to protect it from moisture-or the patch from blowing out. Been doing it this way for many years. I do the same with Maxi-Balls. No point taking a a chance on lube contaminating the powder over a several month period. I have noticed a BIG drop in Wasp nests here in the past 20 years or so.

Thanks Larry -- I thought it should work well in place of a commercial over powder card.

I bought a cheap set of hollow punches from Harbor freight.....7-12 dollars I think....
I punch all my over shot and over powder cards with them....cereal, cracker and beer boxes all make good OS cards.

Thick vegetable tanned leather, 3 ring binder covers, industrial belting, even cardboard makes good OP wads....

Dismantled sisal rope also works well as does tow and other plant fibers......even tree inner bark.

Some guys have even used green leaves.....

I always enjoyed picking them out one at a time with tweezers. :nono:

Hanshi...if you knock down a wasp nest with some undeveloped white wasp in the cells (in the white so to speak)...ahem...save those little jewels in a plastic bag in the freezer.

Panfish will nail them with a vengeance as soon as they hit the water!
