Thought I'd post some pictures of the horns I've been working on lately. Don't want anyone to think I'm a slacker...

These horns are waiting to be scrimshawed, soon as I figure out what to put on 'em.
The next couple pictures are of a horn I just finished.

This horn features a "repair". Actually it isa repair. The horn has a beautiful double twist and when I was drilling the spout, I wasn't careful enough and came through the wall. Not to waste a horn, I made and nailed a copper patch over the hole. The strap attachment on the butt plug is an antique square nail that came from my grandparents house. It really adds to the look of the horn.

 Nice!.............What do ya do in your spare time?

Spare time? You mean outside of taking my daughter hawking, flying my airplane, getting my son to the airport so he can fly his airplane, singing in church, building a Southern Mtn. flintlock and shooting my GPR? Oh, nothing much...

No, I couldn't trust the nails only, so I helped it out a bit with epoxy. I then filled the little bit of gap between patch and horn with bees wax.

Scott,
I hate it when that happens!
I also speak from experience with drill and horn. OOOOPs

Nice Work Scott! (wondered what you've been doin,,,,, ) :haha: really like the color on the patch(ed) horn,,that's gonna be a beaut! now get busy slacker! :haha:

I wanted to try something different, so I used tan RIT dye rather than the yellow/orange mix on most of my others. I was pleased how it came out. And I'm not slacking. Been working on a buffalo horn tonight, and laying out some scrimshaw designs on one of the others...

Very nice 41Aeronca, seeing the quality of your work inspires me to do a horn project of some kind myself when I eventually clear the work bench of "in progress" projects, thanks for sharing, keep us posted on your progress, Regards, Broadarrow

Thanks Bernie. Yes, that top left horn is a pretty little one. It has a lot of surface for scrimshaw. I haven't decided yet what to do on it. I'll think of something...

Thanks Riku. I'm getting the urge to do another fish. The guppy I did for Brett was too much fun. :)
