Been trying to solve this problem for the past 10 years. I do not have a "hollow" between my neck and my shoulders to rest the rifle sling in while walking to and from my stand.
So the rifle slips off my shoulders all the time. How or what do I do to stop/fix this annoying problem?

I've personally had a 12" long, very thin strip of leather or suede sewn onto the under side on some of my slings so they don't slip off my shoulder...got scraps at a craft stores...cut as desired then had a shoe shop sew them in place;

Also, I've seen a tip repeated over the years suggesting that a large button (like from an overcoat) be sewn onto the top of the shoulder area of coats or jackets you most often wear hunting, so the sling can't slip off past it.

Lengthen the sling a mite and carry with the strap across your chest after putting the sling over your head. Does this make any sense to you? Not sure if i am giving a good description of how to do it.

I use a strip of trade wool fer'a sling on my NWTG, it's long enuff fer me to easyly slip my arm and head thru it, so it rides on tha "opposite" shoulder.

I have an extra wide strap from the forend to the trigger guard and the GPR hangs muzzle down behind my back and rides there pretty nice. I've also had sown a extra wide piece of leather which slides along the strap which keeps the strap up on the soulder, kinda like a sling for a hi power rifle.

A narrow sling seems to stay in place better than one of those wide ones.

Thanks for your posts. I've tried all of the suggestions except the button over the years including a few not mentioned, all without success. I think I'll try the buttons and see if they helps (one on each shoulder).
