I have not found a good way to keep a sharp edge on my flint. If you read my other post you'll find out why. I would like to know some of your tricks as to avoid the learning curve.

Lift the frizzen up until the front edge of the flint will be striking the bottom of the " L " shaped frizzen. If you think of the human foot by comparison, you want the edge of the flint to strike the achilles heel at the back and base of your leg above the heel of the foot. Then use your thumb or forefinger under the frizzen to hold it in that position, and cock the hammer, and fire it. The edge of the flint will hit this bottom edge of the frizzen band break off a new edge evenly across the face of the flint. No extra tools, no fiddling around trying to knock off an even edge. no wasted flint because you broke off too much. Brush any of the fine flint shards out of the pan before reloading your gun and priming the pan again.
