If I only count scratch built guns (not kits) I guess I've done 10. I started in 1978, built some till about 1986, then put the tools away till 2005 or so. Here's #1, 1978.

The carving is embarrasing, like linguini polpped onto the gun.

Not a work of art by any means but it is my first. I built it around 1976. It ain't much to look at compared to some of the true works of art to be seen on this board. However, it does go bang when I pull the trigger and it's accurate. Also I have the parts to convert it to a flintlock if the mood strikes me. It's a .45 cal. with a 13/16" barrel, 42" long.
Over the years, I have made a few kits including a CVA side by side 12 ga. Double barrel caplock. And I have modified some factory guns to suit me. I am getting the itch to build a true traditional flint longrifle. Maybe later this year, we'll see.

Here's my first kit. Was a Hopkins & Allen Pennsylvania 45 cal flintlock. Turned out pretty good for not knowing what I was doing. Shoots great too! My grandpa bought it at the end of the 70's and never assembled it. Gave it to me cause I got bit by the muzzleloader bug.

Working on a parts set from Track of the Wolf of a flintlock Leman trade rifle right now.
