Just to satisfy my own curiosity, how many muzzleloaders do you take to the range each visit? I usually just shoot one rifle each trip. I will spend about 4 hours shooting, maybe 30 to 50 shots. I feel like I need to devote that much time to each rifle. If I shoot 2 rifles it seems like I cannot get in the groove on either of them, and my shooting suffers, as well as cleaning two rifles when I get home! :hmm:

As many as you want to clean!!!! :rotf:

I'm with you. Mostly it's one rifle, but once in a rare while I might take a second if it's only for a few shots.

I usually take two. One to shoot and one to lend to someone who wants to "give it a try" to encourage bystanders to become "players".

It's usually just one rifle/pistol except for the monthly club muzzleloader match when I bring a rifle and a pistol.

I always take to the range 3 guns
1. Centermark Tulle 62caliber.
2. Custom made Southern style 45caliber rifle.
3. Cva 36caliber Navy revolver.
Sometimes a pain to clean but Then again listening to the wife b~~~h about the rotten eggs smell makes me laugh.
After 35yrs I am waiting to hear something new LOL

I usually take 2. Either my rifle and a pistol or two pistols.

I usually get my money's worth out of a visit...

Two but often shoot only one of them.

I sometimes get persnickety about things & some small aspect will get to me

So with one gun it would mean packing up. With two guns I can often shoot the 2nd for an hour & come back to the first calm cool & STILL PULLING TO THE @#$%^&* LEFT!!!! :cursing:

:haha:

I usually take three or four. We have a range at my hunting lease where I have a small shack to stay in. It's about an hour and a half from home. So I usually go there on Friday night and shoot most of the day Saturday and Sunday morning.

I'm curious -- for those that take more than one, are they typically flinters, caplocks or a combination?

Good answers all,I get a laugh out of you guys. My wife complains about the stink too, I don't mind I just take my time and drink a couple more beers while I clean. She stays away and I have peace and quiet! :haha: Good idea about taking a second gun to let someone try out, I think I will start doing that. Quite often people tell me they always wanted to try BP but never did. I tell them I like my modern guns too, but there is nothing like loading from the front and making smoke, then waiting for it to clear to see your shot hopefully right in the center!

Seriously if I want to shoot longer ranges than my home range (32 yards). I drive the 12 miles to the Berryville range. I will usually take two or three long guns and they are usually a combination of flint/percussion rifled/smoothbore. Just depends on what I am going to do. I also will take several pistols & revolvers. I may or may not shoot all of them. Like I said just depends.

I usually take at least two any more and sometimes more. It used to b simple when I was younger and only had a couple guns to choose from. It's a ways to go to get to my shooting area and I don't get out often so I need to make the most of it. More than one occasion I have forgotten something and it was critical enough that I couldn't shoot at all or had a gun that wouldn't fire for some reason or another.

I'm talking modern guns also and often take modern guns with me as well as my MLs. I don't always shoot them all as long as I can get done what I planned and it works out but usually I don't concentrate on more than two. I don't shoot flint(yet) so caplock for my MLs.

I never take only one -- if there are problems I'm not leaving. Besides, there are always new projects in the works so I try to shoot at least two. I can't, and don't, keep up with what I have in my collection and that's just the repro shooters -- it isn't possible.

My range is about a 30 second walk from the house. Usually I take two guns. If I had to drive I would take more.

i usually take one muzzleloader and a .22 rifle. It's nice to shoot a .22 while the muzzleloader cools.

Normally shoot about 20 rounds through the muzzleloader and 40-50 through the .22.

ML'ers; usually 1, but some times 2. I will always bring at least some other cartridge gun to shoot too. It also depends on whom I am going with. If it is just me, what ever I want. If I'm bringing somebody else along, it's what ever they want, or what I think they should shoot, which is dependent upon the level of supervision I'm willing to lend them. I learned my lesson LONG ago about lending guns. I would never lend out a ML'er (that I actually cared about) to somebody without at LEAST as much experience as I have with them. :shake:

I certainly would not let a newbie shoot one of my muzzleloaders with no supervision either. Asking for a dangerous disaster for both the shooter and my gun. If someone without experience would like to shoot my gun, I would load it myself a few times and teach them how as they watch, then let them try loading as I supervise the procedure. A new BP shooter may as well learn to load the gun, that is half of the experience and fun of muzzleloading.
