Nearly half of a year away here in Indiana. Thanks for the teaser Roundball.

Isn't it amazing how Whitetails change throughout the year. Those sure look red, slick and skinny, as they should in June.

Best regards, Skychief.

Yeah, the title was a little "tongue-in-cheek"
:)
A bachelor group of 5 bucks came to the backyard water pail just before dark yesterday...the interaction of this pair made for the best shot.

Our season opens August 1, but the bucks are packing little more than knobs on their heads so far. Those look like they're well on their way to decent head gear.

Yeah, that one has a pretty wide beam already...be interesting to watch it grow...they usually come through the back yard about every day from June into September then pretty much disappear

A long hot humid boring nothing much to do time :shake:

Come west young man

There's fishing high up in streams still too cold to stand in, snow in the high country, heat in the valleys humid only on the river bank. Sure mosquitoes but deet and camp.

Back for breakfast at first light”¦I was in and out of the back porch 3-4 times refilling bird feeders & the water pail and they just stood at the edge of the trees 25yds away watching me”¦last thing I did was carry out the customary red coffee can of corn close to the tree line and slowly poured it out in front of them”¦they started walking up to it while I was still walking back to the porch, spoiled rotten, LOL.

Pet deer? I've got them in my backyard too.....wouldn't think 0f shooting them. Do you?

Truth be told...I don't hunt any longer and once in a great while I do think of past hunts...but not for long.

My last deer hunt was in 2010 and my son, my grandson and I shot a total of 5 deer in 2 days...3 bucks and 2 does. I accounted for one of the does and an eight pointer.

That was somewhat of a banner year for "meat on the table" and a lot of "made right" venison sausage. Our family of hunters are all for the meat.

Still get the meat and sausage and it still tastes good, but somehow it isn't the same as before.

Every year I have the same argument w/ myself {w/ my wife butting in} whether to shoot the backyard deer and so far the deer are "safe" and likely to stay that way.

At 83, my "interests" aren't what they were at even 70...not by choice, but because of reality.

Looking forward to upcoming hunting seasons was a high light w/ me for many years....so, you hunters, "dream on".......Fred

Forgot to share this lone young 6 pointer from early this morning...light just filtering through the trees

Fred, I see those days coming closer every year!

I still have grand children in the five to twelve range and hope to last long enough to get them well started.

Priorities do change and evolve with age.
