I have found Ballistol to be terrible inside a lock or bolt action. It has a tendency to dry out/ get gummy, after a while of storage. On one of my flintlocks, I couldn't cock it and had to remove it from the stock and clean it with acetone, then oil it with 3 in 1 oil to get it working. The rifle had been UN-fired for about 6 months. The same thing happened with my 71/84 Spandau Mauser, couldn't open the bolt with out some force & acetone/Kroil.
