The barrel is secured by a wedge which passes through the stock and a loop fastened to the barrel. It is located just in front of the lock panel in the center of the decorative escutcheons. The breech is secured by a hook which fits into a recess in the standing breech. To remove the barrel, remove the ramrod, remove the wedge ( may be "captured" and not completely removable from the stock) right to left, lift up on the front of the barrel and remove from the stock. Reverse to replace.

It sounds straightforward but I am not able to visualize the process. The end of the barrel at the front of the lock panel has a metal wedge ( captured or not captured). Is it attached to the barrel or part of the lock or stock? I can’t conceptualize that there is hook that which fits into the recess of the standing breech. How does one remove the wedge if not captured? Just mentally challenged.

A picture is worth a thousand words. To remove the wedge, push it out. 20200716_103027.jpg20200716_103134.jpg20200716_103204.jpg20200716_103350.jpg

Post pictures of the actual gun when you get it. I have seen a few guns with wedges that don’t have hooked breeches, and the tang screw has to be removed. Once folks see actual pictures of your gun they will guide you through the disassembly process. You likely will only need some proper fitting screwdrivers.
