How would you remove this blemish?

With all respect to your thinking, I disagree. When a car has a dent you fix it. If you don't know how to fix it, then I totally agree with you. The OP is asking how to repair it.
Maybe so but I don't think there is any way to repair that small blemish without making it look worse than it is now. I'd enjoy the gun and not worry about it

Ok, I'll say it...

Has anyone considered the DEPTH of the pits??? I get that it is near the muzzle and pressure should have dropped considerably but with all the talk of files and what not the OP may have to file the barrel very thin to get rid of the blemish?

The very small amount of metal that will be removed won't cause any pressure concerns. Likely the same amount as draw filing a barrel for a build.

Less than 45 minutes of work to get it where it is. First pic is with just 150 grit Emory paper. 2nd pic is after using a diamond file, and so far sanded up to 400.

Even better than MIG, Find an Expert with a Lazer set and as it's modern steel you'll never see the weld when it's cleaned up. Unfortunately I can't recommend one as mine are all in UK. O.D.
Brits welds look great.Presumably they are on Stainless.? MIG,TIG or PLASMA??

I got the barrel sanded down to 600 before I called it quits to feed the beasts and ourselves. I'll be lucky if I have time to hit it with 800 this evening. If I'm fortunate with time, I'll have it completed by Sunday when I go out of town.

New pictures, as requested by @Larry (Omaha) . Had time this evening to work more on the barrel. Had to step back in a couple of places, where scratches I thought I got out showed up. Took it to 2000 grit wet. It's not perfect, but compared to what I started with, it's a new barrel.

When I get back from my trip, I'll consider buffing it out, and then adding a patina.
