This is my first post; just wanted to say "howdy." I've been shooting for most of my life, but have never shot black powder or muzzleloaders. How has this happened? Anyway, I look forward to learning about muzzleloading and hope I can be of some use in return. Thanks.

:hatsoff: Welcome Jack. Glad to see that you found your way home. Sit down and listen up. Lots of fine people here with plenty of know how, and always willing to listen to other opinions. Sit back and spin us some yarns.

Jack,
First off thanks for your service....Welcome
to the MLF.Hope you will visit often.
I am snake-eyes:hatsoff:

Welcome to the forum. Where abouts are you at? There is an active muzzleloading community int Wyoming. The state organization puts on the state shoot every year. Local clubs put on monthly shoots and generally will put on a two or three day shoot sometime during the year.

The state website is Wyomng Muzzleloaders

You should be able to find someone around to give you hand in starting out.

Hi Jack, glad to meet you. Just hang out here for a while, get safe handling and some mechanical things worked out and you will soon be shooting with the best of us. After all, we were all in your shoes at one time.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. The site seems great--what a resource! :hatsoff:

Mike, thanks for the link. I'm down in Cheyenne. I'm looking for all the resources I can find--I'd love to make it to a shoot and meet some folks.

I plan on reading through the site to learn more; of course, having read all morning, I'm itching to find a 19th century reproduction flintlock I can call my own now!

Welcome to the MLF! Lots of great knowlegeable folks here to help you along.I'm from Green River and hope to shoot with you at a match sometime... Longshot

The Crow Creek Muzzleloaders club is in Cheyenne. The state chairman Charlie Romain is also from there. In the August Newsletter PDF is some contact information for the club. Many of these guys have been around for thirty years or so and are usually ready to help a newcomer.
