Hello Y'all,

I am very new to ML's, front stuffers...what ever you want to call them. :haha:

I just acquired a .54 Renegade. This thing is in need of a lot of TLC. After I get it cleaned up, I plan on shooting it.

Here in lies my problem. The only shooting of Black Powder I have seen has been on TV and in parades. Where do I go for technical, correct, safe instruction on loading this gun. (only after I am sure it is safe/clean..or send it back to T/C for an overhaul)

Thank you for bearing with the newbie questions.

Cindy,
You're bound to learn alot here. I would also recommend going to a local black powder shop, if there is one, in your area.
Usually, there are free manufacture brochures on shooting blackpowder. "Black Powder Handbook & Loading Manual" by Lyman is a good book."The Complete Black Powder Handbook"- both written by Sam Fadala. They have helped me and I still use them as reference books.

Cindy Lea,
Welcome to the MLF, great to have you
with us. There are lots of friendly folks here
that will be more than willing to answer any of your questions. Sam Fadala has some excellent
books out on the subject. I have one I would send
you but it is more into the gunsmithing part of
the sport. Might want to also seek out a B/P
shooting club in your area, 99% of the time they
are more than willing to share information.
Hope you will visit often, and contribute when you can.
again welcome and stay active

Hi Cindy, since you are new to the sport I suggest you read as much as you can and ask any question you like, even if they have been asked before, you will get an answer quickly and efficiently...

A good place to start learning is the Glossary of Muzzleloading Terms, click the link below to activate the short cut...
