I work the hunter sightin at my firing range sighting in all sorts of guns (even inlines). EVERY day that I've worked some individual came to the line with a loaded inline. With the latest incident I dropped the loading rod down the barrel and found it sticking up about two inches. He claimed not to know anything about it being loaded. Surprise surprise when it was fired. I pointed out that he had it home with the kids LOADED. I realize that it is legal (in Maryland anyway)to remove the cap or primer from a muzzleloader and transport the weapon in a car, but really! What if some of the priming compound remained on the nipple or better yet would you bet your life that a flintlock woundn't go off without any priming powder in the pan? Please everyone, be careful.
