I nuke it carefully, slowly, in a Pyrex dish allowing time for the mixture to reach equilibrium between bursts of nuking. Then, once liquid, I add two parts lambs tallow which melts easily. Then I pour into muffin tins. Makes a fantastic all around lube especially for felt revolver wads.

I get my beeswax from a local bee keeper. It comes unfiltered with bee parts, and I buy as much as I want or he has on hand, whichever comes first. I have to filter it, but he charges me the same price the wholesalers will pay him for the same wax, and we share coffee and some stories each time. Great guy to deal with.

Last night I put four ounces of olive oil in a measuring cup, added two ounces of beeswax, and melted it over a double boiler. Stirred thoroughly and then placed in a screw-lidded tin. Some I put in an empty Naturalize 1000 tube. My mix has the same consistency as the NL1000; perhaps a tiny bit firmer. I used to use other additives ( to make my secret x-ring sub-MOA bullet lube), but find this works just fine for patch lube.

Check that wax out real good. If it has any wing parts in it, pick them out. If you leave them in the wax, your bound to shoot some "flyers" that will ruin your group on the target.

I've been going crazy trying to figure out why I've had a lot of flyers lately. Now I know , who would have thought.

Recently depleted my ‘lifetime’ supply of beeswax. While picking up some Christmas craft supplies at Hobby Lobby bought a pound of beeswax pellets that went out the door for less than $8. Not a great price, but no wings or other bee body parts to be concerned with. Will remain on the lookout from local keepers for a source, but hard to complain.

Be careful when using beeswax for lip balm and other body purposes. Beekeepers use some nasty chemicals in their hives. Why? To kill the little Chinese mites that are decimating bee colonies and have been for the past 30 years. Try to find some dumb wannabe beekeeper, like I was, who didn't use the chemicals and get the wax that is left after their bees all died. Like mine did.
