I.D. old signal cannon

I bought an old signal cannon in Europe several years ago. Since then I have not been able to find out much about it. I have some ideas but want to see what you guys think about it first. Appreciate any and all input. Enclosing pictures. View attachment IMG_3497.jpegThanks. Ray

I have heard this type of cannon referred to as a “stack gun”. Supposedly placed on the floor of a factory smoke stack and fired to loosen the creosote build up on the walls of the chimney.

If it had a handle like a beer mug it would be referred to as thunder mug.
