Get a grip, man. ::

If you're not looking for something particular, just a really nice, kind of plain, medium length barrel . . . How about something in a trade rifle? These are what most mountain men truly carried.

This is a copy of an H.E. Lemam

Then, there's a style called a New England Rifle (I see you are a New Englander).

These are nice to shoot - the stock is a modern shape. Really simple patchbox and not needing to be engraved to be authentic. Based on the British sporting rifles. This one is a long barrel, but 36" or a bit less would be in keeping with the design.

Now all you gotta decide is how much you gonna spend?

Great, ain't it? ::

AgesofDays; If you want to build your own, Dixie gun works have a LH Hawkins flint kit (FK1345) in 50 caliber. I just completed one 3 weeks ago, and I love it. ::

Nope. 'Silvery crown', West Virginia accent, lean and fiesty. Definately Mammy Yokum. Though, the fryin pan does have a familiar ring to it. Actually, more like a "DUNGGGG".

I built a lot of airplane models as a kid (and still do) and wanted a girl like those on the nose art of WWII bombers - be careful what you wish for.

That isn't the "Nose Art" I immediately thought of.
: The pictures of Leman & Fouler posted above are certainly well designed and 'look' right. Either would be a very nice addition to the fold.
