I just took ownership of a Pedersoli Queen Anne .50 pistol.
It is the first flintlock I have ever shot or owned.
It fired first go and all 4 shots when we tested it out. The ignition on it was faster than I expected. I guess I had figured that there would be a perceptible gap between ignition and firing. Neat.
I got a loading rod (actually a short starter) a bag of flints and the pistol for $200.00 and I couldn't be more pleased.

The pistol is pretty nice. I'd put up a picture but it looks just like any other Queen Anne and google is your friend if you want to see what it looks like. This one is the steel barrel version.

Hi Cynthia. That's sounds like a great buy to me.
I find myself shooting these smooth bore flint pistols at the 7-15 yard range. Believe that's where most were used anyway. :haha: But they are sure fun to shoot. Again, congrats on a good buy and have fun. Rick. :hatsoff:

It was kinda neat when I got my shooting stuff together for it. The fact I wasn't hunting for a cap to put on it was pretty cool. Made me realize that ROF with a flinter should be faster than with a percussion.

Great deal...
I love shooting flintlock pistols. I always thought the Queen Ann was loaded by unscrewing the barrel, filling the chamber with powder, placing the ball on top then replacing the barrel. That way you don't need a rammer or patches.

No it is not a screw barrel pistol. It is a smoothbore front stuffer.

They are fun guns and a hoot to shoot & play with. Hope you didn't have to hock your pretty, red dress to buy it! :haha:

Lucky you! Sounds like a good deal.I've been looking for a flinter pistol for a while, but here in Oz I figure I've got a better chance of finding a chook that lays square eggs!!

I had to look that one up. So do the KFC commercials down there advertise themselves as Kentucky Fried Chook?

That's great congrats. I've been wanting a 45 Flintlock pistol to match my pedersoli Pennsylvania, but no funds for it anytime soon.
Enjoy your pistol

Traditionally you're right but the Pedersoli just has the same styling without actually being a screw-off barrel.

I wanted a smooth bore, but the offerings have been slim, so I picked up a cheap CVA kentucky pistol for $100, and the gunsmith will ream the 45 rifled to 50 cal smooth in exchange for a favor. No need to remove the breach he can do it on his lathe without disassembling the barrel.

I might turn the barrel round for the last 7 inches, replace the nose cap and add a barrel key and tennon to improve the looks.

Took it all apart and cleaned it extra and inspected the thing. Looks almost new. I know it isn't. Testament to the benefit of proper cleaning and servicing.

I am going to keep this one I think. I like the way it looks and it can double as a prop for costuming.
