I watched my brother try to explain the difference between a Winchester pre-64, and a Winchester Ranger, to his insurance adjuster. That was painful.

My safe was in the closet, bolted to the floor and bolted to the wall studs. It took a long day to get it into that position. To get to it the theives broke a window, cut a hole in one wall about 6' X 6', then went into the next bedroom and cut a hole in the wall there which was the back side of my closet. They then wrapped chains around the safe and drug it through the other two bedrooms and out the window. The window was 48"X48". The safe was 60"X72". The skidmarks on my front lawn and across the fence and down the street suggests that they drug it two blocks before they managed to get it into the back of the truck. Damage to the house was in the $25,000 range. Number of firearms: 23 long guns and 18 hand guns. Value: in excess of $20,000. None of my neighbors heard a thing. I was at work at the time. One of the theives was a former boyfriend of a former roommate. I know who he is and who one of his helpers is but can't prove it. Some of the guns were recoved in a drug raid. Since they were "involved" in a crime, I cannot get them back. A couple have shown up in Mexico. I bought one back from a Pawn Shop. My 1100 had the barrel chopped to the front of the forearm so police, even tho I showed them how to remove the barrel, would not return it to me. Now I only have my muzzleloaders. I don't need more. .32cal for squirrels, .54 for deer and elk. A couple in between for fun. But that Henry looks fun! Someday??????

Man, that is painful.

My condolences.

I remember hearing of a crook who swiped a double and was later caught robbing a store with the sawed-off gun. It was a Parker AAH or some such, worth $50,000 more than what was in the cash register . . . before he had destroyed it. :curse:

I'll give you credit. If I had that happen and I was certain who did it, I'd be awful tempted to do something I would burn for, in this world or the next.

I would make sure they got a lot of flat tires. That is prop a nail against the tire (it is there fault if they do not see it and drive over it) :nono:

While not advocating vigilante activity and I'm sure I would burn, but if were my situation and I knew who was involved, I think the thieves might have more to worry about than being caught by the police. Like eventually either becoming compost material or emerging from several wild critter rectum.

:imo:

it would be a rotten spot to be in,, but the bad guys have more rights then we do,, I know you guys are mad and would like to correct the situation, I know I would, The bad thing bout all this, jail just don't fit my life style, ahhh for the good old days,, "hang em high"

Jail does not fit me either. :agree:

I was not reffering to Charles Bronson Deathwish techniques. That's for tv.

But, one does not always have to go to jail just because deserved justice is awarded to a most deserving unlawful individual.

well said,
although "Charles Bronson Deathwish techniques" would make
"ME" feel beter,,, get the rope,,,
0k, back to reality

Sure rope could be fun, but why not let them experience period correct apache style torture that was inflicted on many a person who simply wanted to own a small chunk of land outwest and escape the manure in the east.

Just for the fun of it, I wanted to let you know what the results were after the theft.
The guy that used to date my roommate was later found with two .45cal slugs in him; one in his back, another in his head. Police asked me if I had any once fired cases. I did and some recovered slugs, too. They were matched to the bullets recovered from the body. He was killed with my .45 after it was stolen. The safe was found near the body. It had been cut open and was empty.

Another of the suspects was arrested after trying to rob a 7-11 store. He had my .32mag revolver in his belt. He did not use it, just showed it. (It wasn't loaded...9mm didn't fit and that was all the ammo he had.) He is now serving 12-15. Here in AZ, he will serve the 12 anyway.

The third guy's whereabouts are unknown. But I figure he will get his too if he hasn't. There may have been a forth but no one knows for sure. By the way, the PD knows who they were too. Just can't prove it. But they are still trying!

But that Henry Yellow Boy is still looking good! And Marlin has a rifle in .32H&RMag! What a squirrel getter!

So I will build me a .40cal longrifle. It will be my first looonnnggg rifle. All my others are half stock so I have to figure out how to drill a ramrod hole it that LOOONNNGGG chunk of maple!

I am not crying over the loss of my centerfires. I did that long ago. I just want to build better muzzle loaders!
