Went down to my buddy's farm to shoot yesterday. His 13 year old nephew showed up after school to spend the weekend. We have been trying to get him to take up blackpowder with out success. Yesterday his adult female cousin and her kids were there along with my buddy. After asking the nephew to shoot and being told no I asked if Angie would shoot the muzzleloader would he? After all she is a girl and he should be able to at least equal her shooting I told him. Of course I knew Angie shot powder with her dad and even deer hunted with a .50 cal. muzzleloader so I set the poor boy up. Needless to say he had to shoot. He shot again and again and again. The waining hour of daylight was spent getting him accustomed to my rifle I think I got two more shots off myself. He was hoping I could come back down today but I have to work. I am thinking he might be hooked. Maybe the "disease" lives on anew. :hmm: Hope so anyway :)

got my mid 40's college professor Liberal daughter to do a woodswalk last Fall. She's now hooked, and 2 of her fellow professors want to come and try it....had a prospective new member show up with his 20 year old son..son had an inline and nobody noticed it, and we decided to ignore it...I got him to try my flintlock...now he's saving up to buy one....conversion is important in any religion...Hank

Good for you. You've hooked another unsuspecting soul. It's amazing how people can try B/P once and it gets into their blood. Must be something in the smoke. GW

"conversion is important in any religion."

I like the fact that you tactfully ignored his use of the inline. It's much more effective in any "religion" to use what they've got as a jumping off point for establishing similarity and commonality than berating one for doing something else. Hope he continues.

Starting in May 2005 I have until now hooked 12 new guys and put them on the "dark side". 10 of them didn't had any relations with guns before. So am I a ML messias?

Impossible, I'm german, bavarian and katholic and we have already such a pope with our beloved Benedict XVI.

You sir have a place in heaven.

You have shown the heathens the light, and the way

I know the Kid's HOOKED!!! When dusk arrives, the ML looks awwwwsome as it BOOOOOOMS into the last few minutes of light, spewing forth the roar of cannon-like explosions. The end of a perfect day, indeed! :winking:

This IS the "fire" in the term "fire & brimstone" :) . You are being rewarded with a new peice of putty to mold...may you do your best works! :applause:

All the best,

Dave

thanks guys for all the kind words. I tell you I was impressed by the fact from the first shot to the last the boy never pulled the rifle up or down, jerk his body or closed his eyes. He kept the rifle pointed at the target even after the boom went off. He hit within a couple inches of a players card at 50 yards. Not bad and let him know it too. His shooting stance was also very good.

This is good Juju.......

well, for the minor deception of a child you will certianly have to serve time in ParentPurgatory, but since you acknowledge your misdeed, all will be forgiven (remember: no contrition, no absolution).

take comfort in your service to a greater cause, "for what is a man that he does not leave the world a better place?"

on balance, well done , and thank you.

:hatsoff: YES !!

 Many thanks for the comment! But I have my oppinions about ML and keeping traditions alive and so I try to get as many people involved as possible. If everyone of us will do the same we would become a very very big community.
In my expirience there are more ML interested people than we think. We only have to find them and bring'em to the range.

I really enjoy for folks to shoot my flintlock especially if it is the first bp gun they have ever handled.Everyone who has shot it has loved it.I do not discriminate everyone from kids ,women and experienced shooters are welcome to take a turn with a piece of history that they can shoulder.
