I told myself I'd never own a side-lock muzzleloader with a scope! I received a call from my local ML Shop informing me of a recently acquired USA-made CVA Mountain Rifle with a long Brass Scope. I had a fairly good idea of what it was.

Sure enough, it had a Tasco 1860 Retro Brass Scope. It's 38" x 3/4". The eyepiece is adjustable. According to a web search, it's 4X15.

This was just too cool to pass up!

Awesome find !

What are the two holes in the barrel above the cut out in the stock ?

We used original tube scopes on a couple original unmentionables , when I was a kid , 1950's. Couldn't wait to get one of those modern scopes , with the bell at either end , until I found out the modern , wasn't any more water proof than were the long tube scopes. Bout as water proof as a spaghetti strainer. If weather was damp , back to the peep sighted rifle.
