Birddog,

That surely shines. It is amazing how seeing something like that brings back a flood of memories. I was born in 51 and living in North Georgia can remember going to Cherokee, NC. as a kid. The brightly colored feathers, wooden tomahawk blades like yours, and brightly decorated spears with rubber points. It was all so commercial and touristy, but it fuels a kids imagination and fantasy. When we got back home we played Injuns for days in the woods around our house. I appreciate you posting that.

I remeber as a child, I too got an Indian Warpath set. Stick bow, plastic knife, and feathered head band. I took out one morning, looking for settlers, and low and behold, a kid from around the block, was out looking for Injuns. He had a coonskin hat, cap musket, and the ever popular plastic knife.
We became good friends from that point on, but the coincidence, of that chance meeting, was quite unique.

Kudos to your valuable find.

I live just 60 miles from Cherokee, mom took us kids over there a couple times, I was impressed (this was the 50's and early 60's also) and got some of those trinkets and tourist kid's stuff. Remember the ol' 'Cheif' standing around in full regalia that would charge a $ for you to take a foto with him? there was a small burger/bbq joint right on the edge of the reservation that made REAL burgers, a drive-in joint that wrappeed them in white paper - man they were the best, and those bbq sandwiches with cole slaw on 'em! wow!
