Well, I went ahead and picked up a 25lb bag of FFF Lidu. Total cost after taxes $168.54, or $6.75/lb.

Haven't sifted it yet, but granularity is good. Less of a sulfer smell than Goex red can.

What I need though are a few cans to put it (and sifted 4F) in.

Could folks willing to part with EMPTY, PLASTIC, 1-lb powder bottles (Swiss/Schutzen/Graf) please contact me? I'd like to collect about 5 - 8 more.

Thanks! :hatsoff:

Lighter than Metal, don't whang up in the Post/my shooting box, easier to re-label (lables peel off without futzing)...

Then too, Black Plastic matches my Rifle... :blah:

I would like to suggest that anyone doing this should wash out the jars/cans really well (inside and out) so the nitrate sniffing dogs don't intercept your package and invite you to a barrage of Federal questions...

Sure it's all innocent, but in this day and age one can't be too cautious...

Good Idea. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks.

Be easier and less worry about someone getting in trouble for shipping explosives if they weren't really clean, to just by some plastic jugs, or use some old plastic peanut butter jugs or something similar.

Why don't you scrounge a few empty motor oil bottles. Or, the next time you change the oil in your car save the bottles. In fact, you can buy the oil by the color of the bottle instead of the numbers on the label. What do car makers know about oil anyway? What's in the bottle can't matter all that much, can it? :rotf:

I would suggest empty plastic pop bottles, the 20 oz size should be about right. If ya want them colored, Wally World sells cheap spray paint.

Heck....Wouldn't it be just as easy to build 25 Good sized Powder horns..... :winking: :blah:

by the way, when are you going to finish your powder test?
Working on it. Haven't had a good range day since the last posting.

By "good range day" I mean one whereI can set up the chrony and work without being bothered by things like Rain, idiots with AKs/ARs, or Club Events.

I had Graf to do when last I let off and now I have to add Lidu.

We'll see what happens Sunday

The rifle is a TC Firestorm. They are getting harder to find. I ordered mine from Wolfe Publishing (riflemagazine.com)

$389.48 - 1x #TCM5049 - Fire Storm Composite 50 Cal Flint 26" Round Stainless Barrel Fiber Optic Sights (Thompson Center) @ $389.48 each.
$13.36 - Domestic UPS Ground
$402.84 - Total

but http://www.tjgeneralstore.com/thompson.htm also carries them.

I agree! Just make a bunch of powder horns! You can never have too many powder horns!! :hatsoff:

Glad to see I'm not the only one who has one. My hunting buddy has nicknamed it "Frank" (as in Frankenstein) - but I don't mind. It was a step in the better direction from the I-#_(* that I got as a first BP gun...(pardon me for even saying that)!

Funny though, since then, I now have a flint .50 GPR (fast and slow twist barrels), and a CVA .58 Mountain rifle (perc.)

Just love BP guns!!!!! :winking:

I just finished my Boy Scout Mountain Man Rendezvous. I have 6-8 emty Pyrodex bottles if you would like them.

Plastic bottles to match a gonne. Who would have thought that matching comes into play?
