Well, I tried some 777 and could not get a group !!!!!
I had a can of 2F elephant and went right back to clover leafs at 50 yards, go figure. using GPR 54.

Cast the demon potion away from you, Brother. Let not that foul Sin-thetic elixer contaminate your lungs and soul. Breathe in the sweet sulphur and brimstone of natural powders, which remind us of the earth's inner forms and our eventual spiritual rise above that state in clouds of pure white splendor.

Brother Stumpy: 10,950 days free of blackpowder substitutes.

Ah ha! Now I see Stumpy and Zonie are the same poet, the difference is the spell checker.

:agree: Stumpkiller you sure have a way with words---- are U a preacher? ( I hope not a lawyer) Don't know how it could have been said better. Keep on makin that smoke brother. :RO: :thanks:

No. Not in the conventional sense of the word. Have some recent and distant ancestors who were, including a traveling tent revival hubby & wife team. ::

I was a board member and sexton of my church for about 15 years, lay reader on countless Sundays, treasurer for four, and it was(is) the center of my parent's world. Mom was our church secretary for maybe 30 years. Dad was chairman of the board, my wife was choir director/organist.

I am faithful, but have some issues with the complicated business organization we have built out of religion.

We welcome sinners here!

That evil powder stuff is 3F, I will use it in my 1858 remington, and not feel guilty as much. After dancing with the devil I promise never to abuse my GPR again.
Honest.

I found when shooting Triple Se7en out of sidelocks, I get better groups using a wonderwad between the patch and powder. Since this is a hot burning powder it will sometimes start to mess with the patch and lube on the patch. A simple wonderwad and it made my .54 caliber CVA Mountain Stalker on sweet roundball shooter. I just wish the stores around me would carry the stuff in 3f... :(

I have used 777 in 3f for my small rifles. It works just fine. I have not used it in anything over .45cal. In my .54 pistol, it sputters and spits. Ball almost hits the target. In my '61 Colt, it was OK but not great. I keep it for my .32 and .36 rifles and like it. Have not tried it in 2f. Packing to move so will not be buying any anytime soon.

I bought the first can I had the chance to when it came out. I tested it in several rifles. I used 3f in everything. The inlines loved it, but they start to kick pretty heavy with it under the conicals. The 36 Squirrel rifle loves it. Most accurate powder to date in that gun. If you shoot a couple of shots and then carry the gun half a day in humid conditions, the gun will not fire. The 777 fouling draws moisture as bad or worse than real black. It is a clean gun hunting load only. Tried it in the 50 Hawken. I could not get the sights adjusted low enough to get it on target at 35 yards with a roundball. I started testing for recoil and power at 100 yards with the Hawken using the 385 Great Plains bullet. Accuracy was good out of the 1-48 barrel, but the recoil is best described as severe. I pushed things to 120 grains. At that point wedge plate was pulled loose from the stock on the right hand side. The wedge pulled up out of the slot from the recoil. That spread the stock apart a little and it cracked almost full length of the ramrod hole. Don't let anyone tell you it is not hotter than anything else out there, because it is. It darned near destroyed a rifle that could have handled that load all day long using Goex or P. It creates a fouling ring right about where the bullet should be seated in dry conditions that is hard as a rock. A wet patch swab between shots is required. It will not go off in a flinter at all without help. In the inline, it had caused hard lumps of fouling back in the action area after repeated shots. This fouling was hard and would not scrape off easily. A rain shower came and went. In 5 minutes, the humid conditions turned that hard baked on fouling to a greasy sludge. It will lock breech plugs in place permanantly unless a good anti-sieze is used and the plug is removed soon after shooting the gun. It will lock nipple and clean out vent threads also.

For those with more_itis and magnum-itis, it is the top choice. For anyone past wanting to get pounded on every shot, the small advantage on fouling is not worth the higher ignition requirements and the price. The cleanup requirements are not as simple as described. If you use a lube when you shoot, you still have to use something to remove it along with the 777 fouling. All of the test guns shoot 3f black again.
