ID on my new spanish Percussion

Hello shooters. First of all ill like to say hello to you guys. Im totally new into ML, but im being shooting all my life whit allmost all other weapons. Second, i would like to say sorry about my bad english, but im from europe, so my spelling may bee quite bad.

But lets get back to topic.

Ive just got hold on an "new" Percusion rifle. its in cal.50 and from spain, and thats all i know about it. So i would like to hear if anybody can ID it for me?. With company have made it, whats design its a copy off and so on. Heres some pics of it

and two off the markings on the barrel:

It looks like what we refer to as a Modern Hawkens style Of riffle, or " Plains" type Not shure of the twist but shoot it and Enjoy it. Welcome to the forum and keep us posted. Fisher King. :thumbsup:

I have the same patch box on a .45 full stock I just got. Mine also has the M with a circle around it. F.K.

Thanks for the quick answer. Well, about the twist, isnt it a bit hard to measure it on a Ml?. If your new gun have the same mark (circle m), is it then a factory mark, or some kind of prove mark? ill ofcouse give some feedback, when i get to the point where ive fired it. But at the time, i need to collect as much data on the subject as possible.

I remember seeing that patch box on a long rifle with a two piece stock. It was on[url] gunbroker.com[/url] a short time ago. I believe it was a Markwell Arms that was located in Chicago in the mid 70's. Just have fun with it :thumbsup:

Put a tight fitting patch on your ramrod and push it all the way down the barrel. The put a mark on it in line with the front sight and even with the mauzzle. Slowly pull the rod out, letting it trun with the rifling. When it is 1/4 turn out measure from the muzzle to the mark on the rod and mutiply that number by 4. If it is 12" then 4x12=48, so it is a 1-48" twist.

Your rifle was made by a company in Spain who has been in business for at least 35 years.
The name of the company is Ardessa or something similar to that, and they export their muzzleloaders to the USA and Europe often stamping the name(s) of the importer on the barrel.

Hehe, had to admit i didnt quite understand all you wrote, but i can see its pretty easy to measure :redface:

Ok, thanks alot, thats just the info i where looking for.
So, this model "Monarch", as stated on the barrel, havent to bee in Ardessa`s selection, but can bee from another company. I guess it will bee quite hard to find that company, so ill just let it bee there.

Don't worry about your English, it is fine. I spent some time in your country back in 1988. I was stationed at one of your air force bases at Aalborg. I was there for a total of six weeks. The place and people were great. The women were beautiful.

Tell us a little about yourself Arne. Where do you live? Tell us where you shoot. Do you belong to a gun club? Do you hunt with your Hawkens?

Believe Zonie is right. The company sub-contracted guns out for a number of importers some years ago. Yours has some of the shape features along the stock that were on CVA products that came from Spain.
