Hello All!
I've just finished searching for this with no luck. Apparently, and unfortunately, Ron is no longer a member here. At some point before the forum changed format he had posted a very nice photo essay on how he modifiew his Lyman 57's to mount on his T/C rifles, without having to remove wood or metal from the guns. I can't find that thread here and was wondering if any of you folks might still have the pics and would be willing to post them. Thanks in advance!

Don't have that answer for you, but you can find Ron on the Modern Muzzleloader forum.

My membership here is old. I did switch my name on some sights to idahoron. On here I'm Idaho Ron two words. Here is the thread you are needing.

You can also use a spacer to raise the sight. I built this one out of aluminum. I built it with a file.

Hawken rifles seldom need anything to mout them up. Almost every Renegade I have seen needs altering. Some guys filed the wood. As many cracked stocks as I have seen there is no way I can remove wood like I have seen some guys do.

Remove the metal from the sight.

I did that in about 1996, forgot that I did it until I removed the sight to put on a Redfield sight.

I will have to look at your link to see how well I did.

I think I did my first one around 2006 I had never seen it done before I did it. I'm not saying I was the first. I'm saying in the internet age, I didn't find any info on anyone doing that modification. So I tore into it with my angle grinder.
