I got a pistol and in the shipping manifest is said do not return to midway the item was drop shipped.
While on the phone they denied drop shipping and when I pointed out it was printed as such in their shipping manifest he went silent and then continued to deny drop shipping.

Well that’s possible as I have bought guns or other things at a store and if there is a problem then you have to take it up with the manufacturer not with the store. It is kind of annoying if there is a warranty problem etc.

Midway and Brownell's are two places I've never liked. They think that due to their being a dearth of options they can get by with charging whatever they want & you can take it or leave it. I leave it. Dixie Gun Works is another one that got too big for their britches with their 'you'll pay it & you'll like it' attitude. Midsouth has been my 'go to' since the 70's when I bought my first ever muzzleloader, a Renegade kit that was WAY cheaper than anywhere else. Unfortunately, their traditional offerings have declined because inclines have taken over the market. So now, for me, it's mostly the used market & gunshows where muzzleloader stuff is usually cheaper because of lack of demand.

while not midway , I went to buy a small item from a major hard whare store this morning it was only 1.99 I knew I would have to pay for shipping but there was a 4.00 fee attached plus the 5.00 shipping so did not get it

They will also not let you adjust an order once it has shipped and every order I have placed with them ironically ships within 5 minutes... I have gotten to the point where their supply generally doesn't suit my needs unlike the black powder specialist vendors and you fine guys and gals.

My business with them has declined significantly, because:
1. Their ammo prices are ridiculous, especially when the additional shipping cost is calculated.
2. I bought 8 or 10 "hi-tech" Midway branded hunting clothing items last year. They were all "Made in China".
.
On a positive note, they have started noting in the 'item characteristics' the Country of Origin of many of their products.
.
At least with the information I can make an informed choice.

Made in China? Where can you buy anything made in USA clothing wise. I was looking at a L.L.BEAN catalog and everything is imported. They may make there boots in Maine but the materials are imported.

Larry Potterfield is no longer CEO of Midway, USA & probably has little or nothing to do with their day to day policies. He is now Chairman of the Board, which means he just cashes the check & enjoys the good life. I think if he read our posts he would just say "and that's the way it is".

I don't have a problem with products made overseas. I have a problem with every overseas product being made in China. Big difference.

Midwayusa.com wrote again today saying to let them know if I have any further issues.

Filson has a fair amount of made in the USA clothing, but they are damn expensive. They do have a sale ever spring and fall where many items are up to 50% off. Duluth Pack has some made in the USA gear, backpacks, duffle bags and haver sacks. Roundhouse has Jeans and Bibs.

It is difficult to find some tools that are not made in china. I usually look through all the drill bits to find some other country besides china. Typically it's still an Asian country, but at least it's not china.

Good post. There are things available, if one looks. I have been able to find good quality products for fair prices, especially footwear and clothing.

Graf, Powder Valley, TOW, just about anything I need.....oh and Kibler's of course!

For the tactical tupperware, got WAY too many of them already and bought ammo by the metric ton years ago before it got stupid expensive.

But do you have a tactical hoodie?
😆

I was at Ray O'Herron (1st responder store) many years ago in Danville Illinois. A buddy of mine was looking for a way to hold his remote flashlight switch on his tactical rifle. The salesman said "you need a couple of tactical retainers". My buddy is like sure, give me a couple. The salesman handed him two black rubber bands. From that day forward anything that was black was tactical; Tactical notebook, tactical ink pen and especially rubber bands...lol!

I typically like midwayusa.com, however a couple things have thrown me off lately.

1st) I was going to buy a couple of small items that were on sale. I put them in the cart (multiples of each item), when I went to check out there was a $4 surcharge. When I clicked on the question mark next to the surcharge, it stated "the surcharge was for special customers". So, I emptied my cart. Today, I went back and added some items to the cart that were not on sale and no surcharge was incurred. So what this is telling me is they charge a surcharge for items on sale? So, what's the point of the sale!?!

2nd) Will they let you leave a bad review? I have left several good reviews on products and they show up. However, I bought a pair of Danner boots that turned out to be horrible. The boots were uncomfortable, wore unevenly, and the back side tore out of them as I was pulling them on one day. I was going to leave a bad review, and did, but it doesn't show up on their website. I would like to warn other people about this terrible product, but cannot since it won't let me leave a review.

Like I said, I've typically been happy with midwayusa.com, however I placed my last order with MidSouthShooterSupply.com they were cheaper up front on prices and shipping was cheaper too. Also, no surcharge for items on sale.
Midsouth is EXCELLENT!!!
