Ok, so I suspect that I got your attention from my subject listing the famous quote by Val Kilmer, playing the role of Doc Holiday, when he said, "I'm your huckleberry" to Johnny Ringo in reply to Ringo's challenge of Wyatt Earp to a duel in the movie Tombstone. That's still my all-time favorite western movie.

At the risk of ridicule from members here who think it silly to emulate Hollywood... I'm curious if folks know what the two pistols were that Doc Holiday carried in the movie, but even more of a curiosity for me, what pistols did he carry in reality, as I suspect the movie probably didn't get it right.

And if you haven't seen the movie yet, I highly recommend it. It's a good ol' fashioned western, and likely THE role that made Val Kilmer's career.

Old Hawkeye.. Forgive if I broke the rules here.. I believe that he sported at least a Colt 1851 as one of his sidearms, modified to accept cartridges at some point. Perhaps I'm skirting too close to the edge of black powder only, and if so, kindly forgive and remove my post.

Talking about guns that use self contained cartridges, or cap & ball pistols that have been modified to shoot self contained cartridges is not permitted on the Muzzleloading Forum. Because of the subject of this post, I am closing it.

People wanting to find out what Doc Holliday or other famous people should do a Google search. Put in the persons name and the word, "guns".

Wild Bill Hickok liked his Colt 1851 Navy pistols.
