Got 5 or 6 inches of new snow Tuesday with plenty of wind. By Wednesday afternoon I felt the need to commune with Mother Nature. I prepared some pre-loads to continue testing Lee improved .540 Minnies and 3f AP powder. It was above zero by 10:30 a.m. and I hit the road. Mother Nature can be cruel and I had a lot of snow drifts to bust through. Didn't dare get far off the county road. I figured out A.P powder isn't well suited to cold weather. Some slight hangfires so out came 3f Triple 7 and it is definitely hotter stuff! Frozen deer head against 70 grains, it made a real mess. No bullets recovered, dang it. Still dreaming of spring but got plenty of very fresh air!😁

What is AP powder?

I commend you for braving the elements to shoot a ML. Nice looking country wherever you're at. I miss the snow for sure.

Difficult to do a lot of real world testing in such cold conditions. So much so that I stopped all testing at the range with my .54 GPR until nicer weather. If its not cold its too windy, or raining here this year. Waiting for spring to arrive.

With that said, I have been doing some testing with my .32 Crockett Squirrel Rifle but that's due to either real world squirrel hunting or shooting directly behind my house. Just load, step outside, shoot, check target and back in the house for any adjustments and/or to clean/reload.
