So I've been away from the forum for a while between 2 jobs and volunteer work I haven't had much free time and when I dohave free time on base I ccan't use my personal computer on government servers. But I'm back so has anyone done anything cool with handgonnes? My cousin popped a tree rat with one of my .62s unfortunately I wasnt there to document it.

Im in the guard reserve and work very closely with national guard and active duty soldiers.

I guess one of my gonnes was used to teach an OCS class about military history thats pretty cool

Things are going really well! I finally got the job i fought for a year and a half for, i get to serve my state and country, and i may be able to join federal forces soon.

i have a new handgonne project idea that im pretty excited about but i need to make it to the friendship shoot to buy the wood for the tiller unless i find it somewhere else. The only problem is i think the june shoot falls on a training week for me so it may have to wait until the fall shoot.

Here's a build I finished a few days ago, using one of the barrels I bought from you. I made the tiller from cedar, 36" overall length. I made the hook from a railroad spike. I gave the wood some gradual shaping that's kind of hard to see in the pictures, with the bottom of the tail end rounded and tapering up towards the end for a slimmer and more comfortable grip. The middle is more rectangular, and the top at the front tapers down to a rounded shape to match the barrel contour. I shot it for the first time a couple of days ago.

I wasn't trying to copy a historical piece, it was just something I built for fun.

Assume you cut the head off the spike before mounting, but how is it secured?

Yeah, I cut the head off, then drilled a hole in the wood. Then I had to square out the corners of the hole with a hammer and chisel and secured the spike in the square hole with some historically correct five-minute epoxy.

Would love to see a Youtube of you shooting that rascal.

Ask and ye shall receive.
(I used a piece of fuse for the ignition for convenience.)

These are pretty neat. Thanks for posting about these. I need to make one of these things myself too. I think I still have some scrap tool steel rods left around here someplace. I'll have to go searching through my stuff to see what I got.
