My apologies for bringing up an old subject. I've only seen it once, but can't find it in the search function.
The post talked about reducing the diameter of the 2 back ridges of a cleaning jag to enhance the bunching up of the cleaning patch while being withdrawn from the barrel, resulting in more fouling being removed. How much would those ridges be reduced for a .58 cal jag?
Paul

Not much. Trial and error will tell you. If you don't have many tools, any electric drill will work. Chuck the threads (not too tight) spin and hold a file against the area you want reduced. Go easy, you can't put back on if you take off too much. Actually, most ramrods and/or brass tips are already rebated to do just what you are asking about.

I have a couple i could send you,
$1 each plus shipping

That is the very reason I prefer this type of jag.

It doesn't get all hung up and seems to clean as good if not better than the full style jag in your post!

That is good. But many brass tips for ramrods have the tapered ends that create a rebate when the full jag is threaded on. Modification should not be necessary. But, there is a lot of 'stuff' on the market and not everything matches up perzactly right.

The 'Track' jag is the one I have. Guess I really don't have to worry about this one.

Plinker,
Thank you, that was exactly the post I was looking for. Seems like whenever I try to find something in the 'search', it doesn't work all that well for me. Guess it could be due to limited computor skills.
