Just wondering if anyone knew where I could get some FFG Goex black powder? Don't want to mail order due to Hazmat charge that is tacked onto the final price. I live near Louisville Kentucky. Most places are telling me they don't handle it due to storage requirements.

thanks for any help.

At our local Bass Pro Shop, it can be purchased for a mere $24.99/lb. Kinda boils down to if you have a Bass Pro nearby, and how bad you want/need it.

Maine Powder House. Just got 10# FFFG $202 including Hazmat. The costs and time of driving made the decision easy.

My order of Goex just came in on Sat. Goex was $12.60 including shipping and hazmat fees. This was from Powder INC.

I've never understood folks being scared off from ordering online. The Hazmat is NOT ADDED to the final price its INCLUDED IN the price. PowderInc. is the best, I can get 10# of KIK powder for $171.00 and that's for everything Hazmat an shipping. That's $17.10 a pound. So get on the phone an call. My Bass Pro charges $30.00 plus tax for a pound of Goex, an its 40 miles away.

Powder inc 9# goex 2f. 1# Swiss null B $193.00 two weeks ago. Great to deal with, will again.. Ray

I know its not what you are asking but if you look at the cost off the shelf VS a case with hazmamt, if you plan on doing any shooting at all - get the case. It wont go bad and it wont get any cheaper either.
Where I live the case price was nearly HALF the cost on a per can basis when compared to off the shelf prices.... I like my money better then that... I bought the case.

Have you actually seen Black Powder at your Bas Pro. I've argued with multiple folks at my local Bass Pro from the counter drones, to the gal who orders inventory, to the Manager & they all swear on the heads of their children that Bass Pro won't touch real BP. I live in Arizona, so its' not like I'm in some regulated or prohibited Commie State.

Then they're lying to ya. I can go to mine an get a lb of Goex at anytime. About 3 months ago I got a lb of 4ffff, $30.0 plus tax. Now YOURS may not for some reason but not all. At my Bass Pro Its kept in the back in the gun area an someone has to go get it , they do not put it out on the shelf.

Hazmat is 27.50, how much gas can you buy to go look for bp for that same amount.
Powder Inc, Grafs and Bear River powder all will ship in 5 lb lots.

If you are a member of NMLA, go to Friendship, IN and buy some real black powder there. The magazine at NMLRA headquarters in Friendship is open at certain times (call to find out the hours) and is open during the fall and spring matches. The prices are better than most anywhere else because they buy in bulk and sell to members at a discounted price. Just one of the advantages of being a member of NMLRA. If you go during one of the spring or fall shoots, you will want to be sure to sign up for some of the matches. You don't have to be good to shoot (unless you want to win a prize) all you have to do is enjoy making smoke and noise with a great group of folks. Also, take a little bit of extra cash because you will see many things that you didn't know you couldn't live without until you got there.

Anyone going to Friendship who is not a member of the NMLRA and wants to buy some powder can always join right there and then, with his membership paper in hand he can buy all the powder he wants.

Yes, membership costs $40 a year but IMO, the Muzzle Blasts magazine you get during your membership is well worth the money. :)

Yes, I actually bought a pound of 2ff and 3ff this month. They have empty cans sitting on the shelf, next to the black powder substitutes. You must ask for it at the gun sales counter. Then they contact someone, with double naught clearance, who posesses the a key to a secret chamber that contain the toxic substance. When that individual returns, you are asked what you intend to do with said powder. If you answer correctly, you are then required to pay for it, at the gun sales counter. By the way, they no longer escourt you to the door once your transaction is completed.

Bass Pro Shop in San Antonio carries Goex and has for many years.

About a year ago I phoned the BPS in Springfield, MO, which is the flagship store for the company, and asked if they carry it. An unhesitating "yes" answer came back to me.

I go to the Springfield store on occasion and the last time I went there (probably 6 months ago) when I asked one of the sales persons, they said no and pointed me to the subs...may have been just an uninformed newbie clerk though.
