That's very possible.

Because real black powder cannot be out on a shelf with the rest of the powder, new employees often don't know the store even has it.

If a clerk tells you to look at the substitute powders it's best to ask to speak to the store manager or owner.
If he says they don't have it, they probably don't.

I picked up 2lbs. Of shuetzen fffg at kygunco in bardstown. They keep it in stock if anyone was wondering. But I'm having trouble finding the Cci #11magnum caps. If anyone runs across them locally please message me. Tried bass pro, cabelas, kygunco, and sportsmans warehouse. Thanks for the help.

Wherebouts in Kentucky do you live? Are you close to Valley Station/Pleasure Ridge Park area?(southwest Jefferson County).

Pepper's Bait Shop on Dixie Hgwy(near Blevins Gap Road) had several cans(at least 20)CCI#11 last weekend when I bought some bait there. If you're interested in directions, PM me. It's about 20 minutes from I-65 and I-265(Gene Snyder Freeway).

I go to the Springfield store on occasion and the last time I went there (probably 6 months ago) when I asked one of the sales persons, they said no and pointed me to the subs...may have been just an uninformed newbie clerk though.

No. They just saw that you were from Eureka Springs and couldn't risk giving it to you. You know what kind of people live in ES. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

My friend, who needs Goex, when you have a Schuetzen/ Swiss dealer almost right in front of your doorstep??
I bought a case there and they shipped fast. Prices are better than Goex ,too....
Here you go: http://www.kygunco.com/category.cfm/keenes/powder[/quote]
Great information! Pass by there a couple of times a month but never stopped in. Will plan to stop next time I am through there.

I see you only live a few miles away from me...
I usually buy the Winchester #11 caps now. They are the cheapest and I never had problems with them. Our local Sporting Goods Store "Bucks and Jakes" in Boonville,IN has a good assortment of black powder stuff and several different brands of caps. I may check if they have CCI MAG as well...
They have the RWS 1075 though. But they're $10 for 100 and I have not had problems with the Winchsters for $3.95 for 100. Still more expensive than flint. Most flints last at least 80 shots, so we speak more like 1.5 cents per shot compared to 4 cents for the Winchesters and 10 cents!!! for the RWS!!!!

Paul, I see you obviously do a bunch of shotgunning. Will you attend Friendship as well?
I'll bring my double barrel flinter this year and try to shoot a few birds....

Stopped in at Kentucky Gun Company yesterday. They have no caps of any kind. I was able to get one pound of Schuetzen FFFg. I asked for 5 but was told they have been hit very hard with online orders and because they can only have 50 lbs in the building at a time, it all when out with the days shipment. Oh well, great store with a lot of modern stuff to look at. Will stop again next time for more powder.
