guys I have a .50 Hatfield percussion rifle, my problem is with a patch and round ball I cant seem to get it shooting very well at 50 yards its all over the place. I have always shot a Hawken with buffalo bullets and its extremely accurate any help from you round ball guys is appreciated.

As above,If your to loose you will shoot all over,if to tight your patchs will rip and you will loose accuracy. Powder charge and type affect as does your lube. Ask whats best and every one will tell you what they use.
Get you three or four ball sizes for your gun,Three or four patch thicknesses. Then try at 25 yards from a rest. Shoot in 10 grain incrments and see what shoots best.
Then you can try the finer edges... vary lube, vary caps, vary patch type ect.

There are a few basics to start with when shooting pbr...First, make sure you are using 100% cotton or linen patches, not polyester or they will burn through...

Second, what do the fired patches look like??? This tells you about the material, lube and condition of the bore...What thicknesses have you tried??? What lube have you tried???

What powder are you using??? Real black is preferred followed by Pyrodex...Triple Seven has a reputation of burning through patches...

What does the bore feel like when loading??? A rough bore cuts and destroys patching...

After knowing these answers, we can dig deeper...
