Dont imported guns have to be proof tested? By who? I have seen an Indian 12 ga for sale, it looks to be carbine & has a saddle ring on one side.any one have info on this 12 ga ? or have one? how do you like it? thanks in advance.

It is my understanding that there is no legal requirement to proof test guns in the U.S. nor in India. Spanish and Italian laws require proof testing but I'm not sure it really means anything. Some claim that firing a proof load may just weaken the barrel so that it will eventually let go with a normal load. When I build guns I don't proof them but I do trust the barrel makers.

IS it percussion ? If so it may be one those Enfield 1858 Indian models bored out to smooth .
