Indiana gunsmith "W. Martin 1894”

I am looking for information about a half-stock percussion rifle and it’s builder for the owner, a co-worker. She thinks it was built by her Great Grandfather, Wm. Martin, in his Indiana gunsmith shop. It is ~.40 cal., and crudely etched on the top barrel flat, “W. Martin 1894”. I have pictures, but don't know how to attach them to this post.
