the gun I want to build I think is from j starr it`s the long stock hawkins lefty that`s it.... is it an easy... well for me to finish other than letting them do breech plug and such? is it quality piece or just from a forien country? i need to make some kind of decision cause ...well just cause thank you ed

For reasons unknown to me, I can't get Jed's page showing the long stock Hawken to open.
Without seeing what it says, I can only give you a hint of what to look for.
If the kit comes with a Silar, Davis, Chambers or L & R lock then it's a quality lock made in the USA.

If the barrel is a Green Mountain, Getz, Rice or Colerain barrel, it is a quality barrel made in the USA.

If it comes with set triggers and they are made by L & R or Davis, they are quality triggers made in the USA.

There are a number of suppliers of quality semi-finished stocks and they range IMO from good to great.

Although I couldn't get the page to open, I get the feeling that these kits are probably typical of the type from which a fine rifle can be made. They are not the "fall together" type of kit one would expect from TC or Lyman, so some knowledge of filing, drilling, tapping, browning, chiseling and fitting is required.
Sorry I could not be more helpful.

The page loaded for me,,(Acrobate reader)

It's a GM 1" x 36.(no cal. specific)
L & R lock,
L & R DSDT trigger,
All the hardware iron,w/rod included fer $422(?)(didn't see sights listed)(no box). They do say 98% inlet..

They'll breech,lug(x3),rough the butt and dovetail(x2) fer another $60(?),,,,not a bad price,,parr.

But then you have to buy the stock,,that can go fer an extra $90-plain jane too $300+ tiger curly,,,the 98% inlet is what yer payin for,,that means it's just fit and finish that you need to do,,

A good place to look at current price of all the parts is <www.trackofthewolf.com>www.trackofthewolf.com

They have kit's too,,e-mail is free, and they'll answer all your questions.(they won't try to sell ya either!) The $10 Track catalog is in-valuble because of the "actual" size photos,,anyone can spend hours just leafing through those pages.

Good luck,,you are wise to shop before spending that kind of money.
