Was invited to share a buddies table at a local gun show over the weekend and had quite an enjoyable time!
Between the two of us, we well represented the traditional black powder sector where everything else is, well you know what most modern gunshows have become.
We didn't expect to get much public attention as the weather started out at -18 degrees below zero with snow blowing in some hearty winds but the crowd managed to pour in and I find myself hoarse this morning from all of the "visiting" that took place!
Anyway, a fellow came to my table carrying two Heritage model underhammer rifles that he seemed desperate to sell. One was the short "buggy" style H&A in 36 caliber with a bore scoped (by me) mint bore. The other was the longer version with Numerick Arms Heritage version decked out with I believe Redfield peep rear sight and fully hooded front sight. Has a brass grip rail behind the trigger guard. Also a mint shiny 36 caliber bore.
We did a bit of haggling and I ended up taking both rifles off his hands and he walked away with a smile as I was grinning ear to ear as he left!
Within the coarse of less than a half an hour later, another guy comes up to our table and wanted to buy the short buggy rifle. I told him that I had just acquired it and had not even had time to really even get much of a look at it except for the bore condition. I wasn't really thinking about selling it.
That did not seem to sink in to this eager fellow!
He made me an offer that I couldn't refuse....and so there walked away my little 36 buggy rifle!
I had just made enough extra money to buy my table buddy and myself breakfast, lunch, dinner, and pay the weekend table fee's, all from just being there and following my muzzle loading instincts!
Still quite pleased to have brought home the longer barreled rifle and I just happened to need a 36!
